If there is a style that can be catagorized as American primitive-cottage-swedish, then that is my favorite style right now! As my friends know however, give me a month or two and my house will be completely different.
Where do you get your decorating influence from the most?
Just from observing what is around me be it something I see in nature, in a store, in a magazine or book, at a flea market or a friend's house.
In 5 words or less, your home is?
So peaceful! My sanctuary.
What is your favorite store or flea market to shop at?
Hands down, Round Top, Texas. Great stuff and wonderful people.
Share one of your favorite decorating tricks or ideas:
If you are true to who you are, trust your instincts, and surround yourself with the things you love, you can't go wrong. I would also say that if you can afford it, buy some great decorative pieces be it furniture, rugs or accessories. I see that many women, psychologically, find it hard to purchase the bigger items but then they surround themselves with a multitude of small items that don't have a lot of impact on their own. In the long run, it seems that as much money was spent on smalls, that can get lost in the shuffle, as could have been spent on one or two great pieces.
Your favorite paint color, name and brand:
I've always been a sucker for white and love Dunn-Edwards Swiss Coffee and Cottage White, as well as Behr's Linen White.
What are your favorite things to collect right now?
I've always collected art, but right now I love old portraits (though I won't pass up a great cow, sheep, cottage or landscape painting).
What is your favorite room in your house, and why?
I'd have to say that it is my family room 'cause I just love to veg there, plus it's close to my kitchen and, therefore, my chocolate ice-cream!
