Cottage of the Month June 2013

 photo 1_zps5f6acc36.jpg

June greetings! This month we're touring Susan's charming home in Canton, Ohio...

Where is your home located, and how long have you lived there?
Our home is in Canton, Ohio. My hubby and I (and our 2 kitties) have lived here for 8 years this month.
What is your favorite decorating style?
I love a mix of styles so it's hard to pick just one. I guess I'd say my style is Vintage Rustic Farmhouse with a little whimsy thrown in for fun!
Where do you get your decorating influence from the most?
I have quite an extensive decor book and magazine collection that I love to pour over. Of course now Pinterest and blogs give me so much inspiration, too!
In 5 words or less, your home is?
My favorite place to be.
What is your favorite store or flea market to shop at?
We have a local flea market (Hartville) where I've found some great, unique things over the years. They're open 4 days a week, and I'd be there every day if I could!
Share one of your favorite decorating tricks or ideas:
I love adding something quirky and unexpected to a vignette-like a wire basket full of old baseballs, or a large pair of industrial scissors hung inside an empty ornate frame.
Your favorite paint color, name and brand:
We just painted our home office as well as my shop in Martha Stewart's Cityscape from Home Depot. It's a great grey-green-beige that changes color depending on the furniture/accessories that you put against it.
What are your favorite things to collect right now?
I'm drawn to anything that's tarnished silver-trophies, trays, cream and sugar sets; I also just started collecting ceramic 'Madonnas'.
What is your favorite room in your house, and why?
Probably our sunroom-we can only use it in the warmer months, but it gets great natural light and is such a peaceful spot to read or take a catnap.
Your next project is:
We've converted a spare bedroom into a dressing room, but I really want to get it organized and styled the way I'd like!
