Cottage of the Month January 2012

Happy New Year! This month we're visiting Becky's darling home in Stonewall, Louisiana...

Where is your home located, and how long have you lived there?

Our home is located in the small rural town of Stonewall, Louisiana. We moved into our house in December of 2005, and have lived here for six years now.

What is your favorite decorating style?

My favorite decorating style is vintage country farmhouse. I love the simplicity of a rustic, yet elegant farmhouse.

Where do you get your decorating influence from the most?

I gain most of my decorating influence from the inspiring ladies of the blogs I follow. I also enjoy farmhouse, country, and French style decorating books and magazines.

In 5 words or less, your home is?

Full of joy and love

What is your favorite store or flea market to shop at?

My favorite flea market to shop is “First Monday Trade Days” in Canton, Texas. Located just two hours away, we are blessed to shop there several times each year.

Share one of your favorite decorating tricks or ideas:

One of my favorite decorating ideas is layering architectural pieces such as vintage windows, doors, frames, or shutters. This provides interesting backgrounds for vignettes.

My favorite trick for decorating is having a carpenter for a husband…who has built many special pieces of furniture for our home.

Your favorite paint color, name and brand:

Our favorite paint is a soft white called Cotton Fluff by BEHR.

What are your favorite things to collect right now?

My favorite things to collect right now are vintage bread boards, grain sacks, and scales.

What is your favorite room in your house, and why?

My favorite room in our house is the family room, where we relax as a family and watch movies together. However, I enjoy decorating our dining room the most. It has many great pieces to change up, such as the mantle, buffet, and newly built farmhouse dining table.

Your next project is:

Our next project is painting furniture in our kids’ rooms and adding a farmhouse sink to the kitchen.
