Welcome to Marcy's beautiful home in Southern California...

(Marcy and her Grandmother)

Where is your home located, and how long have you lived there?

Southern California. We have lived in our home for 1 1/2 years.

What is your favorite decorating style?

I really enjoy decorating with antiques and vintage items. Right now, my favorite decorating style is a collected farmhouse look, with a little bit of Shabby Chic, Cottage Style, and French Country thrown in.

Where do you get your decorating influence from the most?

I can't pass up a decorating magazine at the market! I can pour over them for hours. I admire Heather Chadduck's decorating style and have always been inspired by her room styling. I am also a fan of Rachel Ashwell. Her Shabby Chic books were my best resource when I first started going to flea markets.

In 5 words or less, your home is?

Comfortable, cozy, relaxed, collected, and evolving.

What is your favorite store or flea market to shop at?

My favorite flea market is the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. It's the only flea market I know where you can actually shop with a list of things you are looking for and possibly find them!!

Share one of your favorite decorating tricks or ideas:

I love to bring an outdoor element into every room. My favorite way to do this is with plants or flower cuttings from the garden. I love English ivy, ferns, violets, hydrangea and fresh roses from the yard. Ivy topiaries are so charming indoors but can be quite expensive. I started saving my topiary forms to reuse when a plant dies. A new ivy is only a few dollars and can be reworked onto a topiary form quite easily.

Your favorite paint color, name and brand:

For walls, I like Swiss Coffee and for the trim I always use Pure White. When I paint furniture, I like to use a warmer tone like Cottage White. I use Dunn Edwards paint.

What are your favorite things to collect right now?

I am always on the hunt for Brown Transferware dishes and platters, antique oil paintings of roses, vintage wicker furniture, silver trophies, old book collections, and sea glass from the beach. I adore anything bird related and have started collecting tiny bird nests that fall and putting them under glass cloches. I love vintage bird cages and keep my eye open for them. I also collect scrapbook supplies, lol.

What is your favorite room in your house, and why?

My favorite space would have to be the kitchen because it is open to the family room where we all hang out. The light pours in through the windows and it is the brightest area in the entire house. In the winter, we light the kitchen fireplace and it feels so warm and cozy.

Your next project is:

We are currently planting a rose cutting garden in the backyard. I selected a dozen hybrid tea and old english roses. They are in all different shades of pink. I love to have fresh flowers in the house! Next up, we are thinking about raising a few chickens and I dream of a chicken coop just like the one in Heather Bullard's backyard!
