Where is your home located, and how long have you lived there?

We have lived in Ventura, on the coast of California for 38 years. 17 years ago we downsized to our little cottage which is just steps to the sand.

What is your favorite decorating style?

I like to be surrounded by color and light which is good because our house serves as my husband's art gallery. Our house is a mishmash of old family treasures, gathered pieces that don't match, but work well together and ever changing art.

Where do you get your decorating influence from the most?

I love looking at decorating books, Pinterest, favorite blogs and Instagram. I enjoy seeing a picture that inspires me and figuring out how to use what I already own to create a similar look that works for us.

In 5 words or less, your home is?

cozy, comfortable, colorful, creative

What is your favorite store or flea market to shop at?

I loved American Home and Garden in Ventura and miss it. Now I shop at Lavender Blue and a small shop called Meadow. I like Bungalow Antiques and A Beautiful Mess in Agoura. My favorite place to shop is my attic. I'm at the point in my life that I need less so shopping our home is the most practical.

Share one of your favorite decorating tricks or ideas:

Flowers, flowers and more flowers. I pick up a couple of bouquets from Trader Joe's every week and mix them with blooms or greenery from my garden.

Your favorite paint color, name and brand:

I use a lot of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Emperor's Silk, Antibes Green and Greek Blue are my go to colors. Our walls were painted Benjamin Moore Provence, but we are slowly having all the walls painted white. Steve's artwork pops against a white background.

What are your favorite things to collect right now?

I am not looking to buy anything new - we don't have the space. My most recent find was my vintage shopping cart, which I filled with my mother's old linens. I always keep my eye out for colorful linens and I enjoy embroidering my own to add to the mix.

What is your favorite room in your house, and why?

Hands down, it is the dining room. I love window seats so we had one built about 12 years ago. I sit on the window seat to blog, read and watch Steve create in the kitchen. From my perch on the window seat I can look into the kitchen, entry, living room and even catch a glimpse of the garden which serves as another room.

Your next project is:

Recently some old family treasures came back to our house from our daughter. I am busy painting and rearranging to make each piece fit into this tiny little house.
