American Home to Vintage Market

It was just around this time last year when I moved into American Home and Garden. I remember how intimidating it all was at the time, trying something new and fearing I wouldn’t be able to pull it all together. Much to my delight it turned out beautiful, and successful, and I realized how much I loved creating, decorating and vignette-making. The booth keeping experience kinda reminded me of the diorama’s we used to make in the 4th grade, out of used shoe boxes. Anyone else remember making diorama projects? Good times!

In the late summer of this year, I was faced with the realization that successful booth keeping also meant vigorous maintenance, fluffing and restocking, and steady attention. There were a few weeks during the summer where I couldn’t make the drive to the store, and my sales reflected my absence.

I was all too aware of the fact that I couldn’t possibly be everywhere at once. I decided to pull out of the store, so I could focus more on family and matters at home.

So what now, you ask?

I’ve always had an interest in doing interior design work and consulting with clients. It feels right to me, so I’m going for it! And of course I’ll continue to sell on my website online. In fact, I’m planning a shop overhaul in the next few weeks. Keep a lookout!

What about all that inventory?

When I left American Home, we had a garage full of inventory, which we’ve been selling off in small batches at shows. Well, we have decided to liquidate EVERYTHING we have left this weekend, at the Vintage Market in Woodland Hills…

I am so bummed that you are no longer at AH & G. It is one of my favorite shops in Ventura – I picked out a few things for my wish list for Christmas there and next door at Lavender Blue too. If we weren’t going to a Christmas party tomorrow, I would drive in to Pierce College for your sale. Good luck!

Hi Jennifer. I so wished that I lived closer. Denmark is so far away, when I see all your lovely Markets, garage sales etc. But I do enjoy all your beautiful pictures. I have no doubt that you will do great as an interior designer and consultant, you go girl! :)
Wish you a lovely weekend ahead, Jannet

  5. You have collections of wonderful finds but I too have found it is hard to be everywhere. I am in a shop in Tampa and today is my fluffing day. I always see results afterwards and kick myself for not fluffing more often. I wish you well at your sale.

I wish I could be there, but I’m in New Jersey. You have a beautiful collection.

    Merry Christmas
